C1 Chemistry

Aluminium is a strong reductant. Water is an oxidant. The products are hydrogen and a hydrated aluminium oxide or hydroxide. Enthalpy is strongly exothermic. A civil plant is therefore a heat plant as much as a gas plant. Anyone who designs only for gas will meet the heat on the day.

The native film is the reason this is a process and not an accident. In water the outer part hydrates: boehmite, bayerite, gibbsite, depending on temperature, pH, time and ions. Thicknesses quoted in internal notes (2–5 nm barrier, 5–50 nm hydrate) are literature orders, not measurements of the group’s film.

Passivation can be broken. Liquid gallium and Ga–In eutectics penetrate grain boundaries and support continuous hydrogen evolution. That is Woodall, and it is prior art. It is also the economic hinge: if gallium dissolves into the residue and is not recovered, the process is a gallium process that happens to make hydrogen.

GALVANOXIDE, as filed, is a combination: promoter islands, a bilayer held on purpose, 20 kHz pulsed ultrasound at 20–23 W/L, a 1 kHz square-wave field, water access and temperature around 70 °C, and an impedance loop. Each actuator is Established in isolation. The combination is Filed. The combination on the group’s 25 L 316L skid is Not yet measured.

Safety, named because it is chemistry: hydrogen is flammable; aluminium dust and fines are a fire and explosion class of their own; the reaction can run away if the film is stripped faster than heat is removed. SIL-2 is a target in the filing, not a certificate. Atmospheric pressure is the civil design choice that keeps this out of 350–700 bar storage conversations.

C2 Control layer

The filed claim is not that EIS exists. It is that a feature vector taken during an Al–water reaction is a sufficient statistic for a model-predictive controller that sets ultrasound power, field waveform, feed rate and jacket temperature.

That claim is the difference between a batch recipe and a process. It is also the easiest claim to fake, because a spectrum always looks like it is saying something. WP2 exists to stop that. A pass that also appears in the blank is an artefact. A feature that does not move when yield moves is not a handle.

MPC, not PID-on-one-number, because the film has memory: hydration state, promoter distribution, local pH, temperature. No closed-loop run is on the record. Kitchen- table resistance switching on foil is not this loop, and is not a result.

What the control layer is not, on this ledger: a computer, a memristor product, a PUF, a sensor sold as a sensor, a temporal-reflection radio. Those sentences were written in March 2026. They live elsewhere, or they do not live.

C4 What would falsify this programme

Written so a specialist can disagree in writing. The honest answer, under the discipline the group now applies to every family: a civil hydrogen-and-residue process that works is enough to justify the measurement. A universal interface that has not been measured is not a process.
